Deadbolts and Door Strength for Las Vegas Homes
A deadbolt is your main protection, so the grade matters, and so do the screws. Supplying and installing one in Las Vegas usually runs $100 to $300 by grade. Veterans get 10% off new locks from us.
What the Grades Mean
Schlage explains that BHMA rates home hardware on security, durability and finish, with C as good, B as better and A as best. Front and back exterior doors deserve a strong deadbolt.
A Strong Lock on a Weak Door Still Fails
ACME Locksmith recommends swapping short strike and hinge screws for 3 inch screws and using a deadbolt with at least a 1 inch throw. A strike plate held by short screws fails first.
How We Fit a Deadbolt
- We check that the door closes and seals well.
- We line up the bolt with the strike before the lock goes in.
- We adjust the strike plate.
- We test it until the bolt runs smoothly.
We also carry high security and bump resistant models.
Good to Know
What is the weak spot most people miss?
The door from the garage into the house, and the back slider. The builder fitted them and they are rarely changed, so treat the garage door like an exterior door.
